IOSH - Managing Safely Refresher

30/04/2026 | 9:00am - 4:00pm

Event Location: Venue TBC

Event Description

Managing Safely Refresher is a practical, classroom-based course that provides you with step-by-step guidance and a clear business focus. The format and content are designed to keep you interested and engaged throughout the day, helping you embed safety and health into your organisation.

Who is the Managing Safely Refresher for?

This one-day course is for you if you have already completed the full three-day IOSH Managing Safely course.

You will refresh your knowledge of the key elements of Managing Safely by revisiting the plan–do–check–act safety and health management system and applying it to your workplace.

What does Managing Safely Refresher cover?

Thinking Back - You will reflect on what you learned from the full Managing Safely course. You’ll revisit the key reasons for managing safely and recap important terms in an engaging and participative way.

Leadership - You will explore why leadership is vital to effective health and safety management and how you can help create and influence a positive safety culture.

Plan - You will revisit what a safety and health policy includes and understand how to implement it effectively within your organisation.

Do - You will undertake a risk assessment exercise and consider the best ways to communicate your findings and safety and health plans to your workforce.

Check - You will look at different types of data, what can be measured, and how this helps you determine whether your safety and health plan is working effectively.

Act - You will understand why reviewing performance is essential, how to act on lessons learned, and why continuous improvement matters. You’ll finish by reflecting on what you’ve learned and how you will apply it in your workplace.

A Learner-Centred Approach - You will take part in an interactive case study designed to help you apply refreshed knowledge to the plan–do–check–act model and link it directly back to your workplace.

You’ll explore what an effective safety and health policy looks like, develop ideas to influence safety culture, and identify the best communication methods to engage your workforce.

Certification - On successful completion, you will be awarded an IOSH Managing Safely Refresher certificate.
